Which HappyLight is right for you?

2021 is here, and like the rest of us, you're no doubt staying safe indoors social distancing, but that means you're probably missing out on critical vitamin D like never before. If you’re experiencing shifts in your mood, an overall sense of malaise, or disruption to your sleep cycle, the pandemic may not be the only thing to blame. A phenomenon known as Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD, may be the cause. Much like the name suggests, during seasons when we don’t get enough sunshine we turn, well, sad. At Verilux we know a thing or two about using artificial light to help get you back on track by choosing the right lamp from our line of HappyLights®. Learn how light therapy can help you start feeling better and sleeping soundly to go from sad to happy.

What is Light Therapy and How Can it Help?

First, let’s start off easy and address what light therapy is, and how it can help you. The experts over at the Mayo Clinic describe light therapy as, “a way to treat seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and certain other conditions by exposure to artificial light.” By bringing the daylight indoors, a Verilux light box mimics sunshine using full spectrum light without the harmful effects of UV rays. The benefits are numerous, and include improved mood, energy, focus and sleep by triggering your body’s natural release of serotonin and regulating melatonin. What makes a therapy light so effective is it’s ease of use. A simple flip of a switch provides essential light that can easily be incorporated into your everyday routine.

What is a HappyLight®?

HappyLight® is Verilux’s own line of therapeutic light boxes. With 7 styles to choose from, there is a light box to suit everyone’s needs. Each lamp has been crafted to meet the standards of what studies show to be most effective when using light therapy as treatment: 10,000 lux, or lumens per square meter, and UV-free rays. Once you have the proper amount of light intensity, the rest of your treatment will be based on the amount of time you use your light therapy lamp and how close or far away you sit. Since all of our lamps have been designed to be effective, choosing the right light for you will come down to the additional handy features we added to our products.
